One of Sydney’s greatest assets and favourite walks is Randwick’s Coastal Walkway. Follow the coast from historic Waverley Cemetery (the location of Henry Lawson’s grave and the largest memorial to the Irish people outside of Ireland) through Gordon’s Bay, Clovelly, Coogee and Maroubra all the way to La Perouse and Port Botany. Magnificent panoramic views and coastal flora and fauna abound.
A twenty minute bus ride from Sydney’s CBD will allow you to uncover the rich diversity of coastal flora and fauna, while enjoying breathtaking coastal views.
Start your walk at Waverley Cemetery, wander through Clovelly, down into Gordon’s Bay and have lunch at Coogee Beach. Then with your strength renewed, walk to Maroubra Beach via Grant Reserve (home of the best playground in Sydney), on to Trenerry Reserve and then to Lurline Bay.
If it is high tide, or you are not into rock hopping, you will have to skip Lurline Bay and continue walking down Malabar Road left into Mermaid Avenue, left into Lurline Street and right into Marine Parade to pick up the trail again. By the time you reach Maroubra Beach you will be able to relax on the best surf beach in Sydney. Make your walk as long, or as short, as you wish.
